Daniel J. Behles

Daniel J. Behles was licensed in New Mexico in 1970, and in Colorado in 1986. He conducts a statewide practice in bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, and his J.D. degree from Loyola University and the University of New Mexico. He is licensed in New Mexico and Colorado and represents creditors, debtors, trustees, and committees.

Mr. Behles’ practice has been concentrated in bankruptcy for almost 40 years, and he has served as both Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee. He has been a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Albuquerque Bar Association, and the Albuquerque Lawyer’s Club. He has been certified as a specialist in both Consumer and Business Bankruptcy Law by the New Mexico Legal Specialization Board, and has been nationally certified in both Business and Consumer Bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification.

Mr. Behles is a lecturer on bankruptcy and commercial law topics. He has held a New Mexico real estate broker’s license and a New Mexico general contractor’s license, and taught business law for several years at the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management. He served on the board of directors of the Bankruptcy Law Section of the State Bar (former chair) for many years, and presently sits on the board of directors of the Senior Lawyer’s Division of the State Bar. He has been appointed by the New Mexico Supreme Court to 2 terms on the New Mexico Legal Specialization Board. Mr. Behles was a member of the Board of Bar Commissioners of the State Bar of New Mexico for 10 years, and was the Board’s Liaison to the Disciplinary Board.

He has been named as a Southwest Superlawyer almost continuously since, and was selected “Best of the Bar – Bankruptcy” by the New Mexico Business Weekly for 2010. He enjoys a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating.
